Passivation & Conversion Coating

Chromate and tin chemistry that converts a bare metal surface into one that resists corrosion and holds paint.

A conversion coating chemically converts the metal surface into a layer that resists corrosion and gives paint something to grip.

Because it grows out of the substrate rather than sitting on top of it, the treated surface keeps its protection at cut edges and wear points where an applied film would have failed.

What we supply

Sodium Dichromate (including anhydrous), Stannous Chloride and Sodium Silicofluoride.

Conversion, not coating The treatment reacts with the metal itself to form an integral surface layer — it cannot chip or peel the way an applied film can, because it is part of the substrate.
Chromate systems Sodium dichromate remains the reference chemistry for corrosion resistance and paint adhesion on several substrates. Handling and effluent control are part of the specification.
Stannous Chloride A reducing agent in plating and surface work, used for sensitising and activation steps ahead of metal deposition.
