Coolant & Corrosion Inhibitor Packages

Nitrite, phosphate and gluconate chemistry for engine coolants and the metalworking fluids around them.

A coolant’s job is heat transfer; an inhibitor package’s job is making sure the coolant does not destroy the circuit while doing it.

The engineering constraint is metallurgical variety. Cast iron, aluminium, brass and solder each corrode by different mechanisms, so the package has to hold a compromise rather than optimise for a single metal.

What we supply

Sodium Nitrite, Sodium Gluconate, Tetrapotassium Pyrophosphate, Sodium Hexametaphosphate and Monoammonium Phosphate.

Nitrite for cast iron Sodium nitrite passivates ferrous surfaces, which is why nitrite-based packages persist in heavy-duty diesel coolants where cavitation attacks liner walls.
Phosphate buffering Coolant degrades acidic over its service life. Phosphate salts buffer that drift and hold pH in the band where the inhibitor film stays intact.
Mixed-metal systems A cooling circuit contains iron, aluminium, copper and solder. A package that protects one can attack another, which is why inhibitor blends are balanced rather than maximised.
