Detergent Builders

Phosphate and carbonate builders that neutralise water hardness so surfactant does the cleaning instead of the calcium.

A builder is the part of a detergent that deals with water hardness — the single largest drag on cleaning performance in most water supplies.

Without one, a significant share of the surfactant is consumed neutralising calcium rather than removing soil, and the redeposition that follows shows up as greying and film.

What we supply

Sodium Tripolyphosphate (STPP), Tetrasodium Pyrophosphate (TSPP), Sodium Hexametaphosphate (SHMP), Sodium Carbonate Anhydrous, EDTA and Spillzorbe.

What a builder does Calcium and magnesium in the wash water react with surfactant and take it out of play. A builder sequesters that hardness first, so the surfactant is free to lift soil.
Phosphate builders STPP is the benchmark — sequestration, alkalinity buffering and anti-redeposition in one material. TSPP and SHMP cover formulations tuned to different solubility and pH profiles.
Phosphate alternatives Where phosphate is restricted, carbonate plus a sequestrant such as EDTA, and zeolite-type materials, carry the hardness load instead.
